Description
Version/Model Info
- iOS(all models)
- Android(all models)
Affected Platforms/Devices
- All current-generation phone types can receive scam phone calls
1. Pause before responding: If a call feels urgent or scary, stop and take a breath. Scammers want you to rush.
2. Check the caller ID carefully: Unknown numbers or names you don’t recognize are red flags—let them go to voicemail.
3. Listen for pressure or threats: If they say you’ll be arrested, lose benefits, or must act “right now,” it’s likely a scam.
4. Never share personal details: Do not give your Social Security number, Medicare number, bank info, or passwords over the phone.
5. Refuse unusual payment methods: Requests for gift cards, wire transfers, or cash by mail are almost always scams.
6. Hang up and call back using a trusted number: Use the phone number on your card, bill, or official website—not the one the caller gives you.
7. Talk to someone you trust: Before doing anything, tell a family member, friend, or caregiver about the call.
