Here’s a calm, step‑by‑step guide you can follow slowly. You don’t have to finish it all at once.
1. Get the Amazon app
On an iPhone:
1. Open the App Store (blue icon with a white “A”).
2. Tap the Search tab.
3. Type “Amazon Shopping” and tap Search.
4. Find the app called “Amazon Shopping” with the Amazon logo, then tap Get.
5. Wait for it to finish, then tap Open.
On an Android phone (Samsung, etc.):
1. Open the Play Store (multicolored triangle icon).
2. Tap the search bar at the top.
3. Type “Amazon Shopping” and tap Search.
4. Tap Install on the Amazon Shopping app.
5. When it’s done, tap Open.
2. Open the app and start creating an account
1. Find the Amazon icon on your home screen and tap it.
2. On the first screen, look for Create an account or New to Amazon? Create an account and tap it.
3. Enter your basic information
You’ll see a form with a few boxes to fill in:
1. Your name:
• Type your first and last name (for example, “Mary Smith”).
2. Mobile number or email:
• You can use either your mobile phone number or your email address.
• Choose the one you check most often.
3. Password:
• Create a password that is at least 6 characters long.
• Use a mix of letters and numbers if you can.
• Write it down on paper and keep it somewhere safe.
4. Re‑enter password:
• Type the same password again to make sure there are no typing mistakes.
5.Tap Continue when everything looks correct.
4. Confirm your phone or email
Amazon usually checks that the phone number or email really belongs to you.
• If you used a mobile number:
1. Amazon will send you a text message with a code (a few numbers).
2. Open your text messages, find the code.
3. Go back to the Amazon app and type the code into the box, then tap Verify or Continue.
• If you used an email address:
1. Open your email app (like Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook).
2. Find the email from Amazon.
3. It will have a code or a link.
4. Either type the code into the Amazon app or tap the link, following the instructions.
Once this is done, your Amazon account is created.
5. Add your address
Adding your address makes ordering much easier later.
1. In the Amazon app, tap the person icon or three lines (menu) in the corner.
2. Look for Your Account or Account and tap it.
3. Find Your Addresses or Manage addresses.
4. Tap Add a new address.
5. Type:
•Full name
•Street address (for example, “123 Main Street, Apt 4B”)
• City, state, ZIP code
• Phone number (for delivery issues)
6. Tap Add address or Save.
6. Add a payment method (you can do this later if you prefer)
You only need to do this when you’re ready to buy something.
1. Go to Account again.
2. Tap Your Payments or Payment options.
3. Tap Add a credit or debit card.
4. Carefully type:
• Card number
• Expiration date
• Name on the card
• 3‑digit code on the back
5. Tap Save.
If you feel nervous about this step, it’s completely okay to ask a trusted family member or friend to sit with you.
7. Gentle tips to make it easier
• Take breaks: You can stop after any step and come back later. Your progress won’t be lost.
• Write things down: Keep a small notebook with your email, password, and any notes (like “Amazon app icon is on the second screen”).
• Use big text: If the words are too small, you can increase the text size in your phone’s settings to make everything easier to read.
• Ask for a helper: Doing the first setup with someone you trust can make it feel less stressful.
