1. Install the app
• Open your app store:
• iPhone: App Store
• Android: Google Play
• Search: “Map My Walk: Walking Tracker”.
• Download and install the app.
2. Create or sign in to your account
• Open the app after installation.
• Sign up with email or continue with an existing account (or social login, if offered).
• Complete any basic profile questions (age, gender, height, weight) so calorie estimates are more accurate.
3. Allow permissions
• Location/GPS: Required so the app can track your route, distance, and pace.
• Motion/fitness & notifications (optional): For step counting, reminders, and syncing with Apple Health or Google Fit.
4. Get oriented on the home screen
• You’ll usually see:
• Map view: Your current location and route once you start.
• Start Workout button: Often labeled “Start Workout” or similar.
• Stats area: Distance, time, pace, calories (once you begin moving).
5. Set your workout type
• Tap the workout type (often defaults to “Walk”).
• If needed, change it to Walk from other options like Run, Hike, etc.
• You can leave most advanced settings (audio coaching, auto-pause) at their defaults for now.
6. Start your walk
• When you’re ready, tap Start Workout (or “Start”).
• Put your phone in a pocket, belt clip, or armband—just keep GPS on.
• The app will track:
• Time
• Distance
• Pace
• Route on the map
• Estimated calories
7. Use in‑walk features (optional)
• Audio cues: You may hear updates every mile or at set intervals (pace, distance, time).
• Pause/Resume: If you stop for a break, tap Pause, then Resume when you start walking again.
• Music: You can usually play music from your usual music app while Map My Walk runs in the background.
8. Finish and save your workout
• When you’re done, tap Stop.
• Review your stats: distance, time, average pace, calories, and route map.
• Tap Save Workout (or similar). You can add:
• Workout name (e.g., “Evening Neighborhood Walk”)
• Notes (how you felt, weather, etc.)
9. Review your history and progress
• Go to the Workouts/History tab to see past walks.
• You’ll be able to track:
• Total distance over time
• Improvements in pace
• Consistency (how often you walk)
10. Explore extra features when you’re ready
• Training plans: Guided plans for goals like first 5K or general fitness.
• Challenges: Join monthly or themed challenges for extra motivation.
• Route discovery: Explore popular routes in your area or save your favorites.
